Colleges

The word college can mean many different things, from a private language school to an institution within a leading university. Harvard College, for example, is part of Harvard University, while the University of Oxford includes individual colleges such as Trinity College and Magdalen College.

Many colleges provide the final years of secondary education as independent institutions. They prepare students for university and offer programmes such as A-levels and the IB. Universities also offer preparatory pathways including Foundation, International Year 1 and other programmes. Their academic level and progression conditions differ, so choose according to the content and requirements of the particular institution.
